Royal Penguin Kids Craft

When we make penguin crafts every year I often forget about how many different types of beautiful penguins there are. Among my favorites is the Royal Penguin. They are so awesome with the bright yellow on the top of their head. If your children are big penguin fans, they will adore making this cute Royal Penguin kids craft. It makes a perfect winter kids craft and is great combined with a children's book about penguins. Find a list of some of our favorites near the bottom of this post.

HOW TO MAKE A ROYAL PENGUIN KIDS CRAFT

Supplies you will need:
Directions:
1. Start by painting the outside and bottom of your foam cup with black paint. Once it has dried, turn the cup upside down and paint a white section on the front of the penguin body for his face and belly. (You could also just leave a section of the cup white when you are painting it black.)

2. Cut an orange beak and black flippers out of your cardstock paper. Glue them onto your penguin along with your googly eyes.

3. Poke one or two holes in the bottom of the cup and insert yellow feathers into the hole(s). We had longer feathers so we just cut off two sections from the feather.

Once your glue has dried your penguins are all ready for play! If you make several Royal Penguin kids crafts you can stack them and have fun pretend play with them having them interact with each other. Or, use them to help you read a fun children's penguin book.

Here are some of our favorite children's books about penguins:
- 365 Penguins by Jean-Luc Fromental
-Tacky the Penguin by Helen Lester
- If You Were a Penguin by Florence Minor
