HGTV Fabric Pillows

Did you know HGTV has a new line of fabric and trims?? You can find them exclusively at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores. I was very lucky to be one of the first to review some of the fabric and I couldn't be more happy with my new pillows!

I received 1-yard of their Urban Blossom Berry 100% Cotton Print Fabric, 1-yard of their Checkered Past Berry Upholstery Fabric and some Wavy Gimp Red Pink Trim. I really wanted to get two matching pillows out of the fabric for my family room so I decided to use the Urban Blossom for the front and the Checkered Past Berry for the back of the pillow, and used 18" pillow forms. I LOVE the vibrant pop of colors it brings into my room. Instead of closing off the pillow I made it a slip cover so I can interchange the pillows at different seasons.

Jo-Ann's has a great tutorial right on their website for making these pillows and lots of other fun projects. The HGTV line has an assortment of 30 fresh, colorful prints and patterns available online and in stores. The best news is HGTV Fabric and Trims are 50% off right now through May 4th and you can get an additional 10% off using the coupon below.

I'm thinking about using the trim on a lamp shade in the same room to coordinate with the colors on the pillow. Since my family room is full of neutral colors, this pop of color is exactly what was needed!

Teacher Gift & My Very First Refashion...

For some of us the school year is already over for the kiddos but since we do the year-round thing around here, we've got a couple more weeks left. I wanted to do something cute and simple for my son's teacher and when I saw this over at J&M's Eye Candy I knew it was PERFECT!

It was so cheap and so fun to make. I bought a 8x10 frame and a box of crayons at Dollar Tree and since I didn't have any glitter letter stickers, I used my 40% off one item coupon (that comes every week in the junk mail) to purchase those at Michaels. So I spent a total of $5 on this project. Isn't it cute? I figured she could put it somewhere in her room, or if she doesn't like it, I only spent $5 so it's not the end of the World if she chucks it (just sayin).

You just simply remove and throw away the glass from the frame and it's like 3-D art. The frame I bought didn't have a black backing (it was just cardboard color) but I had some black spray paint on hand so I just sprayed a coat on. I assembled the project with the black backing inside the actual frame because I was worried I would get too close to the edge and then it wouldn't fit. I used a white crayon to outline my big letter and then cut and put all the crayons in place before gluing them on with a hot glue gun.
