How to Make a Cute Bee DIY Teacher Gift Bag

Since the school year is almost over you might be starting to think about fun teacher appreciation gifts to give to your child's teacher to say thank you for a great year. I was looking at some fun yellow party favor bags in my craft closet and decided they would be perfect for holding candy or a gift card for a teacher gift. For a special twist, we turned them into a cute bee DIY teacher gift bag that is super simple to make and is just perfect for a simple candy gift or a gift card. I've also including a printable label that reads Thank you for "BEE-ING "a great teacher to complete this adorable teacher gift.

Back-to-School Teacher Gift: Elmer's Glue Stick Wreath

A big thank you to Elmer's for sponsoring today's post! My absolute favorite thing about back to school time is the amazing deals on school supplies. I always feel like a giddy school child as I walk down the aisles mesmerized by all of the bright colors and fun supplies. One item I always make sure to stock up on is Elmer's glue. It's a staple not only in our home but at my children's school too. In fact, every year one of the items at the top of my children's teacher donation wish list is glue sticks. With the fantastic sales going on right now, it's the perfect time to stock up on some extra supplies and put together a back to school teacher gift for your child's teacher. I'm sharing today how we turned some school supplies into a fun Elmer's Glue Stick Wreath.

"Sticky Pop"---A Teacher Apreciation Gift

It's a very exciting day here at I Heart Crafty Things! I had the privilege of guest posting over at one of my favorite companies, The Organized Parent. I am sharing the Teacher Appreciation Gift we made for my son's teacher this year and some great tips on teacher thank you's. I really hope you will take a couple minutes to stop by and read all about it!!

My inspiration for this craft came from a Pin on Pinterest, that unfortunately leads to an error page on a Cricut website, so I'm not sure who to give proper credit to for the original "Bottled Especially for You" idea. If anyone knows the source, let me know and I will make sure to give proper credit.

Thanks so much for your continued support!

Teacher Gift & My Very First Refashion...

For some of us the school year is already over for the kiddos but since we do the year-round thing around here, we've got a couple more weeks left. I wanted to do something cute and simple for my son's teacher and when I saw this over at J&M's Eye Candy I knew it was PERFECT!

It was so cheap and so fun to make. I bought a 8x10 frame and a box of crayons at Dollar Tree and since I didn't have any glitter letter stickers, I used my 40% off one item coupon (that comes every week in the junk mail) to purchase those at Michaels. So I spent a total of $5 on this project. Isn't it cute? I figured she could put it somewhere in her room, or if she doesn't like it, I only spent $5 so it's not the end of the World if she chucks it (just sayin).

You just simply remove and throw away the glass from the frame and it's like 3-D art. The frame I bought didn't have a black backing (it was just cardboard color) but I had some black spray paint on hand so I just sprayed a coat on. I assembled the project with the black backing inside the actual frame because I was worried I would get too close to the edge and then it wouldn't fit. I used a white crayon to outline my big letter and then cut and put all the crayons in place before gluing them on with a hot glue gun.

Teacher Appreciation Craft

It's Teacher Appreciation Week this coming week so my son and I have been busy coming up with a couple crafts to give his teacher to tell her how much we appreciate her. This is the first one we've completed.

What Kindergartner teacher wouldn't love this, right? It was so simple to make.

1. Cut out two 6" red circles and one 3" black circle. I didn't have any black paper so we just used a sharpie to make it black. The easiest way I found to make the 6" circles was to fold a red piece of cardstock in half and then trace the half circle of a 6" protractor. After cutting out the half circle and unfolding it, it was a perfect circle and perfect size. I'm sure you can just freehand it or print one off the computer.

2. Take one of the 6" red circle and have your child paint black spots on it. After the paint has dried, fold the circle in half and cut it in half to make the lady bug wings.

3. Glue the 3" black circle onto the 6" red circle to make the lady bug head.

4. Assemble the lady bug wings to the body with a brad so they open and close easily. You can also glue wiggly eyes to the lady bug head like we did.

5. I made and printed out the message in the middle from my computer, but you could also just write it on there with marker. Glue the message to the body of the lady bug under the wings.

6. Have your child sign the bottom of the message, and there you have it! A simple, inexpensive teacher appreciation craft.
