Sponge Painted Shape Robots Craft

No matter how old you are, robots are always awesome! Their metal bodies, quirky movements and robotic voices always grasp interest and leave you in wonderment about science and technology. This makes them an especially fun topic to learn about in preschool. One fun way to explore robots in preschool is with using shapes. This week my preschooler and I had a blast sponge painting shapes and turning them into bright, kooky robots. Grab some sponges and get ready to have a riot of a good time with your preschooler making this sponge painted shape robots craft. DIY Faux Leather Teepee Craft for Kids

Homeschooling my children this year has created an amazing opportunity for me to bring fun into learning about American History in ways that isn't possible in a traditional public school. For instance, in our first unit about explorers we made hard tack which was a main food source for sailors. My kids also braved trying sardines and anchovies which were common in a Spanish seaman's diet. Our American history lessons have coincided perfectly with Thanksgiving this month and along with learning about the Plymouth Colony being established and the first Thanksgiving, we have also been learning about different Native American tribes. Here is a fun DIY faux leather teepee craft to make when learning about Native Americans.

How to Make Inside Out Inspired DIY Popcorn Boxes

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #InsideOutMovieNight #CollectiveBias

I've been finding bits and pieces of popcorn on my couch and under my couch cushions for the last few days. While finding crumbs normally irks me since my kids aren't typically allowed to eat in the family room, this time it's actually a happy reminder of our fabulous family movie night from a few nights ago. Sometimes you just have to look past the mess and have fun, right? We watched Inside Out in theaters several months ago (on opening night nonetheless) and ever since walking out of the theater, we have anxiously been waiting to own a copy of the movie. When we saw that it would be available on November 3rd, you can envision me at Target that day, giddy as can be, with my copy of Inside Out in my cart and other supplies needed to make some fun Inside Out inspired DIY popcorn boxes for our family movie night.

Colorful No-Carve Owl Pumpkins

We typically carve jack-o-lanterns every year as a Halloween tradition in our family but it's always a bummer that we have to wait until just before Halloween for the activity to avoid them spoiling on the front porch. A great alternative that can be enjoyed all month long is no-carve pumpkins. We have been on an owl kick this week and created these colorful no-carve owl pumpkins. Their black color makes them perfect for decorating for Halloween and the pop of color from the liquid chalk and tissue paper make them stunning!
