Mother's Day Flower Bouquet Gift

One of my most absolute favorite things in the whole wide World being a Mom is on Mother's Day when I open up adorable hand crafted gifts from my children. No matter what it is...a note, card, painted picture, handprint art, doodle or pretty craft...I feel so special that my children made something especially for me. Last year we had a blast making Mother's Day flower cards to give to our Grandmas and this year we wanted to follow suit and have been busy making this pretty Mother's Day Flower Bouquet Gift.

Stunning Hyacinth Flower Craft for Kids

You guys, spring is in the air! The weather has been in the 50's this past week and it's made for some fabulous walks in our neighborhood and trips to the park. One of my absolute favorite flowers I look forward to every spring is Hyacinth flowers. With the weather so fantastic we are on the verge of some of these beautiful flowers sprouting and I simply cannot wait! In our anticipation for all of the beautiful spring bulbs to poke through the dirt, we salvaged some water bottles before putting them in the recycling bin and made this stunning Hyacinth flower craft this week. Friends, I am in love with how it turned out!

Q-Tip Flowers Craft

Taking walks through my neighborhood in spring is one of mine and my daughter's favorite activities. We live in a neighborhood where flower bulbs are really popular so we love to walk around and admire all of the beautifully colored flowers in everyone's front yards. This month the kids craft stars challenge is creating a craft using q-tips. We created this q-tip flowers craft that reminds us of happy memories in spring time going on walks. Make sure to check out more q-tip crafts near the bottom of this post from the kids craft stars.

Paper Plate Sunflower Craft

I love sunflowers! In the area I live we have some vacant fields nearby and they are loaded with wild sunflowers right now. I think they are beautiful! When we had the bubble wrap out the other week for our Octopus Craft my mind was racing with some other ways we could use it for crafting, and I realized the raised texture of the bubble wrap would work great in a Paper Plate Sunflower Craft. This one is super easy to make, perfect for a summer afternoon craft.

CD and Handprint Flower Craft for Kids

All of the beautiful flowers is one of my favorite things about spring time! I love all of the vibrant colors and the sweet aromas, and taking long walks with my kids to enjoy them in everyone's front yard. Today I'm over at Cooking with Ruthie sharing how to turn an old CD into a cute CD and Handprint Flower Craft for Kids. Using the handprints made it especially fun for my preschooler.

Tissue Paper Tulip Kids Craft (with printable pattern)

Tulips are one of my favorite flowers in spring time. I love all of their vibrant, pretty colors! We made cupcake liner tulips a few days ago but I thought it would also be fun to create a Tissue Paper Tulip Craft. I created a simple pattern and am offering it free for download to make the craft super simple for you. We have a local tulip festival that we plan on taking a trip to this next week so it's made for perfect timing for all of our flower crafts.

Handprint Cherry Blossom Tree Kids Craft

I love seeing all the creative cherry blossom crafts in spring from fellow bloggers. We decided to get on the band wagon and made this handprint tree full of cherry blossoms similar to our Handprint Apple Tree. I love the mixtures of pink on the coffee filter and how they combine so well with the added pink tissue paper. Read below how simple it is to make.

Yarn Pom Flowers Kid Craft with Creatify Products

My husband bought me flowers for Valentine's Day and my daughter has been mesmerized by them. Some of the petals fell off one of the roses and my daughter stashed them in a little heart box next to her bed. After she saw them start to wither she asked me sadly why the flowers wouldn't last forever. Oh how I wished they would last forever for my little girl! But since they won't, we decided to make this Yarn Pom Flowers Craft together that she can set on her nightstand. We used some fabulous new products from Creatify to make our flowers and I'm excited to share them with you today.

Flower gardens are such a beautiful sight in spring and summer. I'm sharing a tutorial over at PBS Parents showing you how simple it is to make this Flower Garden Art masterpiece. Sunflower Craft

I have felt a need for lots of extra cheery sunshine in my life the last couple days. Something about the color yellow always helps bring a spark of joy to my heart so we decided to make a bright sunflower craft today.

So simple and fun to make and they are sure to bring a big smile to your face! Follow the pictures below for instructions.

(I made a template of the petal with a scrap piece of cardboard and traced it all over the paper. We ended up using the entire sheet of cardstock for just one sunflower.)

(*I love these Opaque Pony Beads from Craftprojectideas.com. They are so versatile for crafting and they come in a pack of 1500 so they last forever. You can find them at your local Wal-Mart.)

The ends of the petals started to curl up while drying and I liked the effect so we tried to make all of them curl up a bit.

As part of our flower week we used the little Grow Kits from the Target dollar section to plant some sunflowers and daisies. Since the weather is so unpredictable in Utah (it seriously hailed the other day out of the blue), I liked the idea of starting them inside for the kids to watch them grow more closely.

We have also read a couple fun books from the library that are flower related.

The Flower Ball by Sigrid Laube and Silke Leffler
I love the message of acceptance this book gives to children. Cauliflower and Carrot decide to go to the Flower Ball, and the other vegetables feel scandalized—since vegetables and flowers don't look and smell alike, they think they should stick to their own kinds. At the ball, the flowers are snooty over the strange vegetables attending their party, but Cauliflower and Carrot are self-confident and don't hesitate to dance a Snap-Bean Rumba, a Cucumber Tango, and a Chili-Pepper Cha-Cha-Cha. The two of them make a beautiful sight, and despite themselves, the flowers applaud. Soon the flowers open up their buds, and a vegetable–flower friendship grows.

Huck Runs Amuck! by Sean Taylor, illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds
Huck LOVES flowers and he will do whatever it takes to get a mouthful of them. He can't resist them, even if it means he will have to climb the highest, steepest mountain, walk a tight rope, and be faster than a speedy train. While in the midst of a climbing the church spire to get a hat full of flowers, his efforts are mistaken as heroic and he has to make a decision to follow his conscious or eat the scrumptious flowers. This is a really fun read aloud story!

This is the Sunflower by Lola M. Schaefer, illustrated by Donald Crews
This book shows the life cycle of a sunflower and how a whole patch of sunflowers can come from the seeds of just one sunflower plant.

You can read more about the Sunflower Patch Craft we made a
couple summers ago to go along with "This is the Sunflower" HERE.
